Second Timers Guide To Visiting Paris
Paris is one of the greatest cities in the world. It's also one of our favorite places we've ever visited. We just returned from our second trip there and had a blast. What did we learn and what tips can you implement on your second trip to Paris? Keep reading to find out.
1. Visit A Museum That's Not The Louvre
The Louvre is a fantastic museum, but you probably went there on your first trip. Branch out and visit some of the other excellent museums in the city. The Paris Museum Pass is a great value and allows you to skip all the lines. We recommend picking one up because it quickly pays for itself. On our second trip, we visited Musée des Arts Forains. It's a massive collection of old carnival and fairground attractions. It was so cool! We also stumbled upon an industrial design museum, The Musee des Arts et Metiers. Explore a little and see what you find.
2. Have A Picnic
If the weather is nice, join many of the locals for an outdoor picnic. Hit up a grocery store, market or boulangerie for wine, bread, cheese, or any other snacks you may want. Then pick a spot in any of the parks throughout the city and enjoy!
3. Wake Up Early
Paris is full of tourists, leaving the most popular spots slammed with people. But if you wake up early, like around 6 am, you can have some of these places all to yourself. Hop on the metro and enjoy The Trocadéro, The Tuileries or the Palais Royal all by yourself. It makes a big difference being the only ones there.
4. Take A Day Trip
There are several exciting places to visit just a short train ride away from Paris. Take a trip to Versailles to see the Palace. Head to Mont St Michel and Normandy. Or visit Giverney to see Monet's garden and hometown. Since you saw most of the highlights of the city on your first trip, you can venture out and explore.
5. Spend The Afternoon In A Cafe
Cafe culture is a big thing in Paris. You can sit down, order a few coffees, and people watch for hours. No one will ever ask you to leave. Get comfortable and enjoy the crowds walking by. Your first trip might have gone by in a blur. Take some time, have some coffee, and watch the world walk by.
Conclusion
We love Paris. It is such a beautiful and unique city. There is enough to see and do there to fill many more trips. Hopefully, these tips will help you on your second visit to Paris.
