5 More Great Restaurants In Ruston Louisiana
A few months ago, we featured five ridiculously good Ruston restaurants on our blog. But Ruston happens to be home to several more excellent eateries. So we've traveled back to try some of the restaurants we missed on our last trip. Here are five more restaurants not to miss when you visit Ruston, Louisiana.
1. Portico
Portico is all about atmosphere and fun. At the center of the restaurant is an open-air bar that lets the outdoors in all through the day. Visit during happy hour, and you'll find Portico full of locals who visit almost daily. Visit at night for live music, and you'll find great artists doing their thing. Or visit basically any other time for delicious food like fish tacos, shrimp, and huge salads. Follow them on Facebook for happy hour specials and the live music schedule.
Every college town needs a place like the Dawg House. It's a place with a singular and clear purpose. Serve great bar food and have plenty of TVs to watch sports. The menu is full of classics like burgers, quesadillas, and game-day appetizers. Dawg-house is the kind of relaxed restaurant that locals have been visiting for decades. Pull up a chair or a barstool, order some food and enjoy the service and atmosphere that Dawg house is famous for.
3. Log Cabin
Log Cabin is a rustic family restaurant that has been open for almost 20 years. They have an extensive menu, but they focus on grilled dishes cooked directly on their indoor mesquite grill. The BBQ and steaks are standouts, but they have tons of hearty meals to choose from. If you don't feel like dining out, Log Cabin also has a market with marinated steaks, chicken, and takeaway cassaroles. Whether you eat in or takeaway, you won't be left hungry.
We've written about Roma several times in the past. It's a local chain that got its start right in the heart of Ruston. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. There are several delicious dishes on the menu from classics like spaghetti to their own creation, the chicken murphy. The pizzas are enormous as well. You can easily eat on the leftovers for a few days if you order their "giant" size pizza. If you want Italian food, Roma is where you should head.

5. Sundown Tavern
We featured Sundown Tavern on our "Ruston Cocktails" list a few months ago. This time we went back, spent some more time and ordered more than just drinks. Sundown has excellent sandwiches and po-boys that you can enjoy inside by the bar or take them outside and eat under the lights on their patio. Sundown is also a cool place to get a cocktail and hear some live music. Whether you pop in for a full meal or just drinks with friends, you're sure to enjoy yourself.

Conclusion
It's always hard to pick just five restaurants as your favorite. So we went back to Ruston and found five more. Any place on these two lists will provide you with a great experience and fantastic food. No doubt, though, we probably still missed your favorite spot in Ruston to eat.
