How To Travel For 3 Weeks With Just A Carry On - For Him

I honestly enjoy the process of packing for a trip. My wife's opinion of packing is very different from mine, but I like meticulously laying out my stuff and organizing it neatly in my bag. I also love traveling light and bringing only the essentials. Vacationing with only a carry-on and a personal bag makes traveling and getting through security a breeze. But how can you live out of just a carry-on for several weeks? Is it possible? Keep reading to find out how I do it.

Living Out Of A Carry-On

To live out of a carry-on means that you'll have to leave some clothes at home. It's not as hard as it sounds, though. Every piece of clothing I pack has multiple uses and can all mix and match. That way, nothing useless is taking up space, and I have several different combinations from only a few clothing pieces. Packing cubes help out a ton as well because they organize and compress all the clothes down. Lastly, you're going to have to do laundry. I only pack enough clothes in my suitcase for about a week. Then I wash everything and start all over. We almost always stay in Airbnb's, so doing laundry is convenient.

Away Carry-on and Peak Design 30L Everyday Backpack

What Bags do I use to make all this possible? I go through bags a lot because I'm always looking for the perfect ones. Right now I'm using the Bigger Carry-On from Away as my main suitcase and the Peak Everday Backpack for our camera gear and a few odds and ins. The backpack fits neatly under the airplane seat, and my Away suitcase goes in the overhead bin. Almost all of my clothes fit in the suitcase. In my backpack, I keep a pair of PJ's for the plane and my Cable In The Bay liquids bag. Below was my packing list for our three week trip to Europe.

Conclusion

It's not as hard to live out of a carry-on as you may think. I'd much rather do laundry than have to lug around a huge checked bag whenever we travel.
